Inspiration
I'm going to share a little hidden passion few know about me: I am a nerd dressed up in the fashion world who loves mathematics, numbers, geometry, and proportion. There was even a time in college when I was studying calculus three, algorithms, and abstract math theory. While I am often integrating mathematics in the scale and modeling of designs, I have never used it as a pure inspiration until now. I've created the "Flower of Life" collection in an effort to integrate my fascination of a belief system called "sacred geometry" with my designs and jewelry.
Sacred Geometry, the study and belief that geometry and mathematics can have both religious, cultural, and underlying natural values, often analyzes a 7 circle icon called the "Flower of Life." The Flower of Life has been studied for thousands of years by the Egyptians, Mayans, Romans, and in the Buddhist, Jewish, and Christian religions among more. All of these religions and theorists have believed at some point that the Flower of Life can help explain principles of math that reveal faith on earth and unlock a spiritual presence in nature.
All of the Platonic solids discovered by Plato can be derived from the flower, and the Christians believed the seven circles of the flower represented the seven days of creation. Using this interesting knowledge, each piece of the collection is named after a symbolic significance in relation to the Flower of Life's global impact on numerous cultures.
