Inspiration

Currently, the Lulin comet is losing its magnitude as I write this, and most people probably haven’t even heard of it. Or if they have, they forgot to go take a look while it was at peak, and I’m jealous they had that amazing opportunity. Living in New York, I love seeing celebrity stars, one-of-kind lights and spectacles, but some days, or I guess I should say nights, I miss a few things from home– namely, the stars and night sky. I never really realized how much I missed them until recently, and it had inspired me to plan a “Space” inspired collection, but I hadn’t finished my drawings yet. I was thinking sleek metals, contoured edges, and planet textures devoid of color. Then the irony began.
Sourcing beautiful new fabric beads & gemstones, I was on my way to creating a separate fun, fashionable collection that was full of light and color with only a few metal accents. I thought my fabric beads were fresh and unique just calling to be created into something special, and then it hit me, they were! They were being created in these beautiful orbital, elliptical ways, and as I continued to design, I found myself inspired to use the icy blues of the night sky with my silver. My galactic ideas were in full force, and I was melding them all together for the perfect balance! My gold was quickly paired with stunning navy blues, vibrant yellows, reds, and I saw the stars, planets, and nebulas coming to life. And thus, design brings all good things to one, and I’ve melded them into one special collection – The Galilean.
